Character Biography:
History: After graduating from Oxford, Toshiko was recruited by the government to work for the Ministry of Defence. She did her job quietly and well for two years, until her mother (a former Royal Air Force officer) was kidnapped by a terrorist group. Under duress, Tosh stole and successfully built a "sonic modulator" from plans that she later found out never should have worked. Upon delivery of the device, Tosh was arrested and taken to an unnamed facility, where she was in solitary confinement for six months before meeting Jack Harkness, who offered her a job at Torchwood for a minimum of five years instead of staying in prison.

At Torchwood, Tosh's computer genius was put to good use as she was in charge of the computers and tracking systems for the team, not to mention doing a lot of research into the various alien technology that passed through the Rift.

Personality in seven words or less: super-intelligent, creative, diligent, responsible, caring, sensitive, misunderstood

How Others Perceive Your Character: Someone who can be depended upon, even in extreme situations, but usually viewed as more quiet and shy than she really is. People don't expect Tosh to be as opinionated as she is, though they know that she is extremely intelligent and well-versed in technology of all sorts. She is the type of person who could easily fade into the background, unless she makes her presence known.

Beliefs, Convictions, Morals: There is an infinite amount of knowledge in the universe, but you should try to understand as much of it as you can, and when you care about someone you should put your whole heart into helping and protecting them.

Reason(s) for Escaping to Canada: Got transported to Aternatopia under suspicious circumstances during a routine check of Rift activity. However, having found her way here, she is thinking that a more peaceful existence might suit her.
